Department was established in 2005 and aims to qualify the graduate to be technical engineers his ability to develop preliminary designs for air-conditioning systems in general and supervises the maintenance of an independent central air-conditioning systems and supervision at the monument to the systems of various kinds. It is well known that the university policy is upgrading the scientific and practical level of graduate and on this basis it has laboratories and workshops care in which the student is preparing a high level of practical experience.
The Department of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering aims to stand out among the mechanical engineering departments in private and governmental colleges and universities by strengthening scientific and administrative relationships to ensure the graduation of an engineering staff capable of meeting the technical and knowledge requirements in Iraq and worldwide.
Teaching students theoretical and practical engineering concepts in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning through the use of advanced teaching methods and laboratories, along with training in governmental and private institutions to prepare graduates to serve and advance the country.
The main objectives of the department are as follows:
1. Prepare and graduate an engineering staff well-versed in the technical and knowledge requirements to be a high-quality engineering and technical resource in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning.
2. Organize training courses and qualifications for competent staff, involving department students in the job market.
3. Strengthen scientific and administrative relations with corresponding scientific and engineering colleges, industrial companies, and other related institutions regarding training needs, requalification, and curriculum development.
4. Maintain social contribution and research to ensure the highest levels of understanding for students in the summer training program and follow up with them after graduation.
5. Develop all necessary scientific and administrative plans and curricula to achieve the above points as required.

– Diagnosing faults, supervising maintenance work, repairing various systems, separate and centralized air conditioning units, and food storage facilities of all kinds.
– Developing air conditioning and freezing systems that align with climatic and environmental conditions to keep up with technological advancements.
– Installing, operating, and managing maintenance and repair complexes related to the specialization.
– Collaborating with experts to conduct research in the field of energy consumption efficiency and finding alternatives in the field of specialization.
