Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mahmoud Jawad Abu Al-Shaer the esteemed Dean of Al-Rafidain University College an activity titled “Smoking: Causes Harm and Efforts to Establish Regulations for Its Prohibition in Public Places and Universities” was held.
The activity a survey took place on Thursday October 24, 2024 as part of the activities of the Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit. It was supervised and coordinated by Ms. Basma Mohammed Khalil and Ms Hana Hamid Mirza A number of students and faculty members participated in the survey
The survey results indicated a rise in smoking among the age group 18-22 with causes including stress personal issues exams and peer influence The survey recommended increasing awareness campaigns about the harms of smoking and working toward making universities smoke-free environments
