Twenty-Five Iraqi Universities Featured in QS Rankings
The QS World University Rankings has released its 2025 edition for universities in the Arab region (QS Arab Region University Rankings 2025), where 25 Iraqi universities achieved competitive positions. According to the global ranking (https://www.topuniversities.com/arab-region-university-rankings?countries=iq ), 246 institutions across the Arab world competed based on key indicators, including academic reputation (30%)employer reputation (20%)faculty-to-student ratio (15%)international research network (10%)web impact (5%)faculty members with PhDs (5%)citations per paper (5%)papers per faculty (5%)international faculty ratio (2.5%), and international student ratio (2.5%).

The latest results highlight a notable increase in the number of participating Iraqi universities, rising to 25 compared to 18 in the previous edition. Baghdad University secured 38th place, followed by Al-Mustansiriyah, Basrah, Al-Nahrain, Kufa, Babylon, the University of Technology, Anbar, Karbala, Mosul, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical, Nineveh, Tikrit, Diyala, Al-Qadisiyah, the Islamic University, Wasit, Al-Iraqia, Al-Muthanna, Middle Technical, Northern Technical, Southern Technical, Fallujah, Kirkuk, and Dhi Qar Universities.

Notably, over 100 Iraqi universities and colleges are actively competing in eight global rankings, positioning Iraq 29th worldwide in terms of the number of institutions featured in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and 7th globally in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for Sustainable Development.
