Graduation Ceremony of the 31st Cohort at Al-Nahrain University
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, emphasized that the success achieved in university institutions over the past two years is rooted in the quality of academic programs, adaptation to evolving knowledge, and alignment with labor market demands. This statement came during his speech at the graduation ceremony of the 31st cohort of Al-Nahrain University.
Dr. Al-Aboudi highlighted that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research operates within a strategic framework aimed at fostering scientific and research environments. This has been a cornerstone for accelerating the progress of universities, faculties, branches, departments, and research centers, enabling them to secure competitive rankings in global scientific indices and esteemed research repositories.
He further noted that the progress witnessed in Iraqi university institutions over the past two years of the current government is a direct result of high-quality academic programs, the positive engagement of faculty members, and the effective linkage between educational outcomes and societal needs. The alignment with global and local knowledge advancements and labor market transformations has played a crucial role in this success.
In his address, Dr. Al-Aboudi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to implementing the strategic programs outlined in the governmental agenda, overcoming challenges, and ensuring a seamless integration of higher education policies. He underscored that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is the legally authorized sectoral body responsible for managing the educational process across all disciplines. This responsibility extends to addressing the increasing enrollment rates in higher education institutions and fostering stronger connections between academic institutions and diverse work environments in both the public and private sectors.
Moreover, he pointed out that the policy decisions made over the past two years have been geared toward institutionalizing a culture of academic excellence, ensuring the highest standards of university development, enhancing institutional performance, and strengthening scientific, cultural, and academic collaborations between Iraqi universities and their international counterparts.
The graduation ceremony of the 31st cohort featured a parade of graduates from various faculties, including Law, Medicine, Engineering, Science, Political Science, Information Engineering, Business Economics, Biotechnology, and Pharmacy. The event also included processions of faculty members and university council members. Official speeches were delivered by the President of Al-Nahrain University and the student representative, followed by the unified university oath-taking ceremony and the formal awarding of degrees.
Concluding the event, Dr. Al-Aboudi honored the top-performing graduates, extending his congratulations on their new academic and professional journey. He emphasized that the graduation of this distinguished cohort from Al-Nahrain University serves as an added impetus for maintaining the academic reputation of Iraqi educational institutions, which have long been recognized for their dedication, commitment, and high standards of excellence.
