Preserving Core Values in the Era of Digital Openness
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mahmoud Jawad Abu Al-Sheir, the Dean of Al-Rafidain University College, a seminar entitled “Preserving Core Values in the Era of Digital Openness” was conducted on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the college’s main building.
This event, organized in partnership with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division for the 2024-2025 academic year, was led by Ms. Nada Adnan Taher, the Division Head, and Ms. Basma Mohammed Khalil, who oversees activities in the scientific departments. Coordination was managed by Ms. Bushra Abdul Latif Jasim, the liaison officer.
The seminar, delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Jasim Kazem Kabashi, the Law Department Chair, focused on the critical issue of upholding core values in the face of digital transformation. Discussions revolved around the necessity for a unified approach from both individuals and society to address this challenge. Key strategies discussed included:
• Promoting education and awareness to encourage ethical use of technology.
• Enforcing regulatory measures to guarantee responsible digital practices.
• Fostering cultural conversations that merge traditional values with modern technological progress.
• The pivotal role of families in transmitting essential values to the next generation.
• Opening forums to evaluate technology’s societal impact.
The seminar concluded by stressing the importance of balancing digital innovation with the protection and promotion of ethical and cultural principles.
